Shay
For me, pediatric cancer advocacy is important because the whole pediatric cancer experience is so complex to survivors, people who are currently battling cancer, and people who lost their lives fighting. Through the medium of photography, I can raise awareness by ensuring that my own personal experience is shared as accurately as possible. My photos tell my particular experience with cancer, a raw, vulnerable side. It is hard for me to be vulnerable, it is something I don’t usually do, yet it is important to me because this is a cause I care dearly about. Photographs become a means of my healing and expression. It helps me talk when I can’t use words.
